VIA Tech, Juniper to introduce PT800 chipset

LEADING innovative developer of silicon chip technologies and Personal Computer platform solutions, VIA Technologies Incorporated has concluded plans to introduce its new generation VIA PT800 chipset, optimized for the Intel Pentium 4 processor platform.

Partnering with Information Technology company, Juniper Solutions Limited, the VIA PT800 is paired with VIA’s most advanced south bridge architecture, the VT8237, which is targeted specifically at professionals and PC enthusiasts requiring the very latest performance features and a full arsenal of connectivity and input output options in a mainstream configuration.

Also it supports 800MHz FSB and Intel Hyper-Threading Technology, the VIA PT800 chipset implements VIA’s advanced FastStream DDR400 Memory Controller and AGP8X graphics port in a synchronized north bridge configuration that maximizes bus bandwidth efficiency.

A press statement made available to Champion Infotel quoted the Associated Vice President of Marketing at VIA, Mr. Richard Brown, saying the product which has multichannel audio suite provides superlative integrated and on-board 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound options.

The offer feeds into a host of high-bandwidth connectivity options including support for up to eight high-speed Universal Serial Bus (USB 2.0) ports and 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet.

He said, “Our customers are demanding more system performance coupled with the latest connectivity and input/output technologies at the mainstream performance sweet spot of the Pentium 4 market”.

Stressing that the VIA PT800 chipset delivers on all counts by providing the interconnect to all the latest technologies not excluding the new Pentium 4 processors with 800MHz.

Champion Infotel also gathered that the move by Juniper was meant to make the country feel the power of VIA which is a cost-effective computing, according to the JSL managing director, Mr. Gboyega Ojuri.
