Champion holds two-day workshop for journalists

ABOUT 20 journalists at the weekend concluded a two-day training workshop organized by the management of Champion Newspapers Limited (CNL), with the theme: ‘The Reporter and Trends in Journalism’ in Lagos-Nigeria.

CNL is the publisher of national newspapers, Daily Champion, Saturday Champion and Sporting Champion in the country.

Declaring open the workshop held at the CNL’s Human Resource Centre, the Executive Director Operations, Mr. Emeka Omeihe, who represented the Managing Director, Mr. Emma Agu, said that the workshop is one of the new trends of things being instituted to enthrone a new Champion, through capacity building.

He advised reporters to be sincere and focus in their inputs at the workshop and beyond, especially on their jobs.

This he noted would bring about the much needed repositioning being drummed by the present management.

While wishing participants well, he enjoined them to be part of the revolution currently going on in the organization.

He was joined by some members of the management including the Executive Director, Publications, Mr. Ugo Onuoah, General Manager Finance, Elder Uka Erem, General Manager, Marketing, Mr. Sam Ibemere, Personal and Admin Manager, Mrs. Ijeoma Enekwa and the Workshop Coordinator, Mrs. Ijeoma Okereafor.

While some of the workshop’s outlines included ‘The Reporter as a Businessman, Editorial and Marketing Partnership to attain corporate objectives, Relationship building and development in the workplace, Transforming Champion into a unique brand, Imbibing the culture and traditions of Champion Newspapers’.
