Africa Summit on Women, Girls in Technology calls for presentations

As the date for the first-ever African Summit on Women and Girls in Technology (ASWGT) draws nearer, the organisers have opened calls for presentations, reports ITRealms.

According to a member of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Ms Karolle Rabarison of the Web Foundation, the call is for those interested in showcasing their works at the 2016 Africa Summit on Women and Girls in Technology, which takes place on September 13-14th in Accra, Ghana.

The summit, she said, is a great opportunity to join leading African women in technology and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) policy to debate solutions and contribute to the policy processes that will bridge the digital gender gap on the continent.

“We are looking to feature women-led initiatives that address at least one of the summit’s focus areas: affordable broadband, women's rights online, digital education and skills, and digital entrepreneurship,” she said.

Rabarison further said that potential presenters could choose presentation format of a lightning talk, demonstration or by poster, stressing that the deadline for submission is July 25, 2016.
