Over 10 high-end phones, handbags stolen @ late Sir Okeke funeral

Not less than 10 phones, and several handbags were stolen at Anambra State deputy governor's father, late Sir Richard Okeke funeral at Enugu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government, reports ITReams.

The unconfirmed reports also said that although the Master of Ceremony, Mr Chido Obidiegwu, continually warned guests to guard their phones and other personal effects as complaints of missing phones had become notoriously alarming.

One of those who lost their phones and other valuables, Mrs Roseline Okoye said she lost her N50,000 and her phone on the occasion.

“I bought that phone just last week and it was a costly phone. I bought it N60,000. They took everything with my handbag. There was N50,000 in that bag. What is all this?

Wondering how this could happen in a supposed high-class function, she lamented, “No poor person was allowed into this tent were I was sitting. How can this happen here? I'm confused.

ITReams further gathered that the funeral was attended by top class politicians in the country, including former vice president, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, Anambra state governor, Chief Willie Obiano, his Enugu counterpart, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi , deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu were among the dignitaries that bade the Anambra state deputy governor’s father farewell.

Others who  were at the church service held at Immanuel Anglican Church, Enugwu-Ukwu included former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi and five deputy governors of Delta, Bayelsa, Enugu, Ebonyi, Cross River and Adamawa.

Former Governor of Cross River State, Liyel Imoke, National Assembly members, Anambra state speaker, Hon. Rita Maduagwu, industrialist, Chief Godwin Ezeemo, Senator Uche Ekwunife, were in also attendance.

The dean of Anglican Communion, Archbishop Christian Efobi led 100 other clergy men including 12 Archbishops to conduct the final rites for late Sir Richard.
