Red Star Express awards scholarships

Red Star Express Plc, the foremost logistics services solution provider in Nigeria, has awarded scholarship to students from Unity Grammar School and Mafoluku Grammar School, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Lagos, ITRealms reports.

During the ceremony held in the schools, in honour of the beneficiaries, Red Star Express Managing Director, Mr. Sule Bichi, restated the strategic importance of primary and grassroots education as a catalyst for overall economic growth and long term improvement of life, explaining that the purpose of the scholarship was to encourage young and brilliant Nigerian students to aim for excellence.

To ensure continuity, he implored the beneficiaries to demonstrate continuous academic excellence throughout the duration of the scholarship; they must show exemplary character and integrity. He further encouraged other students to strive to be a Red Star Scholar as there is an opportunity for this every year, ITRealms informs.

The scholars from indigent homes and public schools were chosen based on presented evidence of demonstrated academic excellence through their previous results and a scholarship examination conducted by University of Lagos Consult.

He noted that the gesture was in accordance with the company’s philosophy of Corporate Social Responsibility which mandates the company to contribute to the development of the society. Red Star Express appropriates a percentage of its annual profit after tax towards the running of the “Red Star Foundation”.

Speaking on behalf of other recipients at the 2015 edition of the award of scholarship, Master Adebayo Mark, an SS1 student of Unity Grammar School, Oshodi, commended the company for its commitment to the scholarship programme which, in no small amount, has eased some of the burden shouldered by their parents, especially regarding their educational needs

Red Star Express Plc, ITRealms learnt, was set up twenty-three years ago to meet your express delivery service commitments through excellent service delivery. Today, the company is much more than an express delivery company but a total one stop logistics company.
