Smile oils machines for aggressive roll-out in 60 cities



Smile Communications Nigeria Limited is oiling its machines for more aggressive roll-out that would see it covering some 60 cities and communities across the nation by December 2015, reports ITRealms.

Head Marketing at Smile Communications, Ms Alero Ladipo confirmed this to ITRealms in Lagos, saying that they have put the necessary foundation across the geo-political zones in the country including Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt as the stepping stone in achieving this.

Ladipo who made this disclosure while chatting with newsmen including ITRealms in her maiden meet the press in Lagos, said their desire to see the platform delivering promises to customers.

“We are planning for expansion in the coming year, in 2015,” she said, stressing that as a specialist in retail marketing and communication, her job is to ensure that Smile gets mileage by offering the people what they want as customer.

“Smile has come into the market not from the back foot but a good standing,” she declared in the company of the General Manager, Sales and Distribution, Mr. Ken Esenwah, as well as Senior Manager for Legal and Regulations, Mr. Gbolahan Thomas, both of Smile Communications.

She also solicited support of the Nigeria ICTMedia in getting the services of the company done, especially in enlightening the end-users through proactive engagement with her office.

She noted that basically Smile is in Ibadan, Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt to name a few, a stand point Ladipo said offers Smile some advantage to deploy in up to 60 cities before December 31, 2015.

“We use LTE – Long Term Evolution - which is more adaptive to network reception” she said.
In his comment, the General Manager Sales and Distribution, Smile Communications, Mr. Kenneth Esenwah, explained that in achieving their objective of 60 cities in 2015, they would depend largely in the co-location of infrastructure schemes in the country and go for the best that would make sure that customer get value for their money.

He also enjoined any customer to reach the Smile team on 080044444444, maintaining that whatever is the issue must be resolved within 24 hours.

Smile, Mr. Esenwah said also engages in corporate social responsibility and have connected 25 schools in Lagos and Ibadan respectively with free internet access, assuring that this will be done in all the places Smile deploy. 

He noted that mainly public schools benefit from this CSR.

For the Senior Manager, Legal and Regulations, Mr. Gbolahan Thomas explained that the process of selection is based on Smile collaboration with state government who provide the list of schools invariably already have Personal Computers (PC) and then Smile adds value by giving such schools free internet access through eLibrary with 30Gigabyte monthly.
