Anyim leads dignitaries to ‘A Decade of ICT Revolution’

Secretary to the Federal Government (SFG), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, would on tomorrow, Thursday, lead dignitaries to celebrate ‘A Decade of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Revolution’ in Lagos.

Other prominent dignitaries expected at the event include the new Minister of Communications Technology, Mrs. Omobola Johnson and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Gov. Godswill Akpabio, while the Lagos State governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN) would be the chief host at the event taking place at Eko Hotels in Lagos.

Chairman of the ICT Publishers Alliance, the organizers, Mr. Aaron Ukodie said that ICT revolution celebration in collaboration with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) supported by MTN Nigeria and Zinox as well as other ICT establishments would witness the attendance of top functionaries.

He also said that the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the NCC, Dr. Eugene Juwah, Director-General, National Information Technology Agency (NITDA), Prof. Cleopas Angaye and the immediate past EVC of the NCC and Chairman of OpenMedia Group, Dr. Ernest Ndukwe.

According to him, other dignitaries include the Corporate Services Executive of MTN Nigeria, Mr. Wale Goodluck is scheduled to give a presentation on future expectations of the telecom industry, especially as it relates to mobile money.

Ukodie who also is the publisher of eWorld noted that the event would provide an opportunity for stakeholders to look at the success indicators of the ICT, especially the telecom sector with the theme The ICT Revolution: What Next.

“Ndukwe, Juwah, Anagaye and Leo Stan-Ekeh will provide key addresses at the event. Presidents of the various ICT bodies are also expected to provide good will messages at the event,” he said.

He added that several persons and companies among them past heads of state and top public servants, who have played vital roles in the sector would be recognized and given awards.

Mr. Ukodie further said, all is now set for the event, which would be used to point to other sectors to best drive the Nigerian economy.

Most of the invited dignitaries have confirmed their readiness to attend the event and play assigned roles and join well-wishers of the ICT industry to take stock and plan for the next decade, Ukodie informed.
