Zinox seeks better bandwidth rate

The 2009 edition of the SatCom ended in Johannesburg, South Africa, with a swell by proudly Nigerian company, Zinox with a view to seek for better deal on bandwidth to drive its offerings.

Disclosing this, Zinox Chairman, Dr. Leo Stan Ekeh said that the launch at SatCom 2009 , was to expose the satellite industry on the continent with the Zinox brand of computers.

He explained that SatCom is a satellite conference and market where owners of satellites come to canvass to those who need satellite capacity, even as they actually pitch, using the process to give the best prices that are available anywhere in the world.

Ekeh noted that being a solid player in the computer industry in Africa, Zinox, the first Nigerian certified computer is giving the foreign brand a serious run in the big race to control a market that will yet be the biggest on the continent.

Also commenting, the chief executive of 03B, Mr. Greg Wyler, described the step as impressing, even as firm plans to send out low flying satellites that could provide low cost satellite bandwidth to service providers.

He also revealed that his firm will provide links to service providers with the speed of fibre and availability of satellite.

Part of his credits include his speech to the U.S. House subcommittee on telecommunications, explaining the need for low-latency, high-speed communications to promote economic and social equality worldwide.

Equally speaking on the debut of Zinox brand at SatCom, Altai’s Head of International Marketing, Mr. Won Kim Kwok, declared that Zinox brand is a known one especially with the behind it, Leo Stan Ekeh, who has become a global face.

ITRealms Online further gathered that within the period Dr. Ekeh was at South Africa, where he did very serious networking, and meeting with several satellite owners, it was evident that the computer manufacturer and marketer is one of the biggest bandwidth consumers in the country.

Zinox Telecoms has the ambitious game-plan of lighting up most of the states in the country with broadband facilities.

The latest effort is the Enugu State Capital that has recently launched its broadband facility, a project that was implemented and powered by Zinox Telecoms.

Satellite has become a major enabler of broadband deployment and countries like Nigeria whose regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has as one of its cardinal plans this year, massive promotion of broadband technology across the country, will need a lot of satellite space.
