Reltel, Zinox in digital power partnership

Two award winning Information and Communication Technology (ICT) firms, Reltel Wireless and Zinox Computers, have entered a partnership tagged Digital Power Project.

Chairman, Zinox, Dr. Leo-Stan Ekeh and the Executive Vice Chairman, Reltel, Mr. Ken Aigbinode, made the disclosure in a joint press briefing in Lagos.

Dr. Ekeh said the partnership was born to drive the penetration of Personal Computers (PCs) in the country through engaging the world via the Internet full of information.

He also said that why his firm decided to partner with ReltelWireless is because it rides on Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology, describing the platform as a “reliable technology.”

According to him, the partnership would avail computer enthusiasts in the country to enjoy the full potentials of their systems, explaining that the deal has introduced a promo to last for one month offering Internet access to every buyer of a Zinox laptop brand within that exercise.

“The partnership is designed to enhance Information Technology (IT) penetration in the country by presenting consumers nationwide with mouth watering incentives,” he said.

Ekeh further said that his company would offer free training sponsored by Microsoft and Intel on computer appreciation in addition to one-month free Internet access.

“These are some of the automatic benefits that now come with buying a Zinox laptop,” he asserted.

He added that buyers have the choice of taking the appreciation at Zinox recommended training centres, namely AfriHub and New Horizons, but stressed that they would have the option of taking their training at any other centres.

“From May 1 through May 31, 2008, training vouchers would be issued to buyers for every Zinox laptop bought. The training can be undergone at Zinox designated centres or the buyer may attend any training centre of his or her choice and Zinox would pay. Zinox Computers would directly conduct training for buyers who live in cities where there is no training infrastructure,” he said.

As said by him, every Zinox laptop bought come standard with Internet access powered by Reltel wireless and customers who sign on to Reltelwireless would enjoy a one-month free Internet access.

Digital Power project, Ekeh said has been designed to enable consumers to fully exploit the benefits of mobile technology, which means that Nigerians could now work or play in the office, at home, or while on the move.

This partnership between two local giants, he said, portends good for the development of technology in the country.

“Zinox and Reltelwireless are pulling together their specialties in order to better serve the customers and place Nigeria on track for the realization of the United Nations (UN) target that seeks to make the Internet accessible to everyone by 2015,” Ekeh said.

Equally speaking the Executive Vice-Chairman, Reltelwireless, Mr. Ken Aigbinode, said the bundle offer provides the most cost-effective options for Nigerians in the march to world-class digital and data society.

Under this scheme, he said, subscribers would have access to Reltel high-speed Internet services at very affordable rates across the country.

“This partnership will have the benefit of Reltelwireless’ spectrum-efficient and internet-friendly CDMA technology,” he said.

Mr. Aigbinode noted that the synergy between Reltel’s efficient technology and Zinox’s leadership in the IT industry, would translate into affordable connectivity for Nigerians.
