NCS, NIG to partner on FINTEX

NIGERIA Computer Society (NCS), the umbrella body of Information Technology (IT) professionals in the country is tinkering on partnership with the Nigeria Internet Group (NIG) on future organisation of its annual Financial Internet Technology (FINTEX).

NCS President, Dr. Chris Nwannenna made this known in a goodwill message to the first-ever FINTEX 2005, organised by NIG and held at the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) Center, Onikan-Lagos, between Monday and Tuesday.

Dr. Nwannenna, represented by his first vice president, Chief Anthony Olaide Ayodele of Labyet Polaris Limited, gave this insight at the occasion.

He said NCS would be glad to partner with NIG on subsequent editions of FINTEX, considering its focus which is leveraging on development and exploration of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) specifically for the good of banking and financial sector.

While lauding the theme: ‘Mainstreaming IT in Banking and Finance,’ which according to him, came at the appropriate time, given the consolidation exercise in the industry.

The proposal which received applause from participants at the event, NCS boss said, was a signal that this kind of collaboration has been long expected the by stakeholders.

Welcoming participants earlier, President of NIG, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, said in his forward message to the occasion, that FINTEX has been positioned as a forum that promises to provide answers to the applications of ICT in the financial sector of the nation’s economy.

He said NIG is pioneering FINTEX as a leapfrogging platform to boost productivity in institutions within the sector.
